Chris Hagen

Chris Hagen has a broad background across integrated business planning, finance, and new product launches of medical devices.  After graduating with a business administration degree in finance from West Virginia University, Chris started with The Northern Trust Company, thereafter moved to Abbott Laboratories, and joined Hospira in 2007.  Chris has held positions with increasing responsibility across both the finance and commercial organizations at Hospira and current serves as Hospira’s Managing Director of the EMEA Device Business.  Previously, Chris led the rollout out of Hyperion Financial Planning at Hospira and was a team member on the rollout of Hospira’s supply chain forecasting system.  Together these systems combine to enable rolling 18 month forecasts and connect the demand and supply plans which ultimately drive Hospira’s monthly rolling financial forecasts.   

Rick Desmarais

Rick Desmarais has been a strong Lean Thinking advocate during his 25 years of Supply Chain experience.  Having worked in both US and Europe across all 4 supply chain pillars of Plan, Source, Make and Deliver, he provides a holistic view of the impact of a Lean strategy on operational effectiveness.


Rick started his J&J career as a Manufacturing manager that opened a new plant in Switzerland. He was also the first operating company to distribute products from J&J’s new European DC in Belgium. After returning to the US, he managed multiple DC’s for the Global Orthopedics franchise.  Most recently, Rick has assumed a leadership role in the new Lean Center of Excellence for J&J. Rick is a certified 6 Sigma Green Belt and Lean Black Belt. He has also recently achieved Master Black Belt certification.

Bjoern Neal Kirchner

Bjoern Neal Kirchner, a graduated economist from Munich and London universities, has over 10 years’ experience in logistics and supply chain management at a senior level. Shifting twice between China and Europe, he has worked across 4 countries moving along the entire supply chain. He gained experience in emerging markets and has led teams through challenging SAP implementations and post-merger integration projects. With the focus on building high performance teams, Bjoern has been engaged in various business process optimization projects.

Sophie started her career as customer service representative at Katoen Natie. KTN is an international company that supplies logistics and semi-industrial services to various industries and port services for the shipping companies. After one year and a half she became terminal manager at the KTN BASF site and afterwards at the KTN Ineos site (former BP). Today she is logistics manager at GC Europe. GC Europe is a part of GC corporation that is founded in 1921 and is one of the most prominent companies in the development, production and distribution of a very wide range of dental products. She has the purchasing, planning, transport, inbound, outbound and customer service  departments under her wings.

As senior manager for EMEIA Service Supply Chain at Varian Medical Systems David has established an EMEIA service supply chain team based in 6 countries. His key business challenge is the design and implementation of innovative supply chain solutions that reduce machine down time for Varian’s customers, while at the same time finding ways to improve operational execution that reduce the cost of service. In his role his focus has been on establishing logistics operations in key emerging markets and optimizing inventory to reduce total investment while improving the local availability of critical spare parts.

Dr. Felix Fremerey was a Member of the Management Board of PAUL HARTMANN AG between 2006-2015. As a Board Member he assumed the position of Chief Process Officer (CPO). As CPO Fremerey oversaw the Process Excellence Management with IT, Group Logistics Management and General Purchasing as well as Business Services, Corporate Quality, Group Technology Services as well as Health, Safety and Environment Management.

In 2001, he joined the engineering group GEA AG, Bochum, where as a Member of the Divisional Board he assumed responsibility for production, purchasing, logistics and product development for all air treatment technology manufacturing.

Verena Stupp

She is responsible for achieving customer satisfaction as well as assessing and implementing continuous process optimization leading to an adequate cost structure within global distribution logistics from storage of sterile products and trade goods to end-customer in line with BIOTRONIK’s defined service levels per business unit. Operations includes the process of receiving customer orders and returns, the storage and dispatch of sales products as well as internal and external distribution warehouse and transport management.

Jenny Gough

Jenny has been working with GS1 standards since 1996 and in 2004 became a member of the Bar Code Development & Implementation Group within GS1. In 2006 Jenny moved to Mölnlycke Health Care, where she retained responsibility for GS1 Standards along with the role of creating and maintaining the packaging artwork files for Medical Devices and a small range of Pharmaceuticals.

 

As well as working very closely with the regulatory team to ensure full compliancy she has also been pushing to implement GS1 standards within the Company.  Recent developments within the company means that Jenny is now working as part of the Supply Chain Development Team heavily involved in any projects for which GS1 would have an impact, e.g. E-Catalogue, Traceability, etc.


Jenny has maintained her presence on the Bar Code Development & Implementation Group at GS1 she have now also become the Co-Chair of the GS1 UK & Irish Health Care User Groups and a member of the Eucomed UDISC Group.

Geraldine Lissalde Bonnet

Géraldine Lissalde-Bonnet is Public Policy Manager for GS1 Global Office, in Brussels, and works with her local GS1 colleagues in 111 countries across the world on the harmonisation and implementation of GS1 standards in the healthcare industry. She is managing the GS1 Healthcare Public Policy Work Team which has the mission to provide strategic leadership in the conduct and interaction with global public policy makers to move towards harmonization of healthcare product identification requirements in alignment with GS1 Global Standards.


Composing this Work Team are the diverse stakeholders in the healthcare supply chain including pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, wholesalers/distributors, group purchasing organisations, hospitals, pharmacies, logistic providers, governmental and regulatory bodies and associations. Their overall objective is to enhance patient safety and supply chain efficiencies worldwide through standards for AIDC (Automatic Identification and Data Capture), global data synchronisation and traceability.

Dawn Fowler

Dawn Fowler is the Senior Manager of Global Labeling & Documentation at Endologix Inc., in Irvine California. She has 30 + years of Quality experience in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries and is an acknowledged expert in global labeling processes, technologies and standards including in-line printing and AIDC.  She has expertise in designing and implementing global labeling systems utilizing linear and 2D barcodes as well as RFID technology, Dawn is the Global Labeling business process owner at a mid-size medical device company and has successfully implemented both large and small scale global label conversion projects, including e-labeling as well as design and deployment of barcode processes and technology to meet global UDI requirements. Dawn is a member of several groups focused on AIDC, UDI, product standards development and implementation including AdvaMed, Eucomed, GS1US, GS1 Global, HL7 and MedSC.

Mathijs Luts
Supply Chain Planning Manager

Mathijs is a driven Supply Chain manager with significant experience in the medical device industry. He is currently the Supply Chain Planning manager at St. Jude Medical, based in Belgium with operational responsibility for the EMEA Forecasting & Inventory Management Team. This includes $110m disposable and $55m capital equipment, spread over the EDC and 33 local plants across 70+ countries. He is also responsible for management of and reporting on a wide array of supply chain KPIs such as DIOH, inventory turns, forecast MAPE etc. Mathijs is leading the S&OP process on all four major product families to ensure improved alignment on strategic and execution from all involved parties. Prior to this role, Mathijs was the Inventory Forecasting & Planning Specialist at St. Jude Medical, mainly responsible for demand and supply planning, cooperating with finance, sales and marketing teams to support product launches and phase-outs.

Prof. Tim Baines

Tim spent ten years working in manufacturing businesses, beginning his career as an apprentice. His background gives him a personal understanding of the challenges faced by the industry and of the need for practical, relevant guidance on implementing change strategies.


He delivers executive development and custom programmes to global and local industry alike. His book Made to Serve: How manufacturers can compete through servitization and product service systems described as, ‘Essential reading for any companies or executives looking to explore this option for their business’ provides a practical guide to servitization, based on in-depth research with leading corporations such as Xerox, Caterpillar, Alstom and MAN Truck & Bus UK.


Tim maintains his links with the manufacturing industry as a Fellow of both the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and the Institution of Engineers and Technologists. He is also a keen amateur mechanic, and spends his weekends reconstructing his classic MG and TR sports car and VW Camper.

Kevin Stout

Kevin Stout is the executive director and founder of the Medical Device Supply Chain Council. The council is a network of senior supply chain and operations executives who are focused on identifying opportunities to improve the medical device industry supply chain, from the manufacturer to the healthcare provider.

Prior to his role with the Council, Kevin spent over 20 years in management consulting with such firms as Accenture, Ernst & Young and Archstone Consulting assisting clients with their major strategy, process and IT initiatives. Kevin has a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the University of Houston.
Steve Graham

Steve Graham leads on NHS eProcurement policy at the Department of Health in England. He developed a new NHS eProcurement Strategy for the English National Health Service, which was published by the Department of Health in May 2014, and now leads a small team focused on delivery of the strategy. He previously led the Innovative Technology Adoption Procurement Programme for the Department of Health, which focused on increasing the adoption of medical technologies to improve patient outcomes whilst reducing costs. The Programme was transferred to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence.


Steve has significant private sector experience, with several years in manufacturing industry in his early career, as well as Commercial Director for a division of a European pharmaceutical wholesaler, where he managed a national sales force selling medical consumables to the health sector; and as Director of Public Sector Business for an innovative supply chain finance solution provider.


As an MCIPS-qualified procurement professional, Steve has led national, regional and local procurement teams in the NHS, and has set up and managed several regional NHS procurement organisations. He has managed warehousing and distribution operations, and led the procurement of complex medical technologies and services, particularly in the cardiac and disability sectors.

Mark Wasmuth

Mark joined the GMDN Agency at the start of 2010 and is now the CEO. He is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the IET. The Agency is responsible for maintaining and delivering the Global Medical Device Nomenclature to manufacturers and regulators in over 70 countries. Mark has been to every continent promoting the adoption and use of the GMDN to support medical device regulation as the single harmonised system of device classification. With the recent adoption of the GMDN by the US FDA for their UDI Rule, along with use in many other countries, the GMDN is now set to meet that goal.

Prof. Dr. Ton de Kok

Prof. Ton de Kok is the Director of the European Supply Chain Forum at Eindhoven University of Technology and also the Director of the European Supply Chain Forum (eSCF). Ton specialises in supply chain operations planning, supply chain optimization, forecasting and production planning. He is a critically acclaimed leading authority on supply chain and logistics having published over 85 articles in international scientific journals. His current area of focus is on Supply Chain Management and Concurrent Engineering with emphasis on quantitative analysis. His research results have been successfully tested and implemented in a multitude of projects with industry. For the next 5 years his research focus is on SCM in Configure-To-Order supply chains and SCM in process industry.

Kevin Pritchard

Kevin has responsibility for delivering and developing a national third party logistics business strategically positioned to support clinically sensitive theatre and critical care operations, through to logistics services in support of homecare patients for OEMs and medical suppliers, operating across pharmaceutical and medical device sectors. He is responsible for the strategic development of the service offer and existing operational services and processes, meeting the growing demand for bespoke logistics services for healthcare organisations.

For a period of 3 years he was financial controller for the Audio and New Business within Philips Consumer Electronics. As chairman of the Life Science Network, he has worked with many companies within the Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Industry.

Yolonda van Riel

Yolonda has been in business development and supply chain for over 20 years with experience in medical devices, aerospace and nuclear research.  In her current business development role with Rhenus Contract Logistics, Yolonda is responsible for attracting medical device companies  looking for opportunities to outsource their warehousing, distribution and order to cash services in the European market. Located in The Netherlands, Yolonda brings a “local” perspective to the table that begins at the fact finding mission phase and continues through to implementation of the final supply chain solution.


Prior to joining Rhenus Contract Logistics, Yolonda was employed as a program manager for StandardAero , an aerospace company specializing the repair and overhaul of aircraft engines. During her time at StandardAero, she was involved in many project teams including a joint effort to streamline  governmental guidelines of military aerospace contracts. Her experience lies in the understanding of ISO and government regulations as they pertain to their respective industries. She has also worked for Lockheed Martin, Magna Corporation and UPS.


Yolonda studied at Tusculum College and received an MA  in Organizational Management. She currently sits on the board of directors and serves as president of TIC, a not for profit organization to assist expats living in The Netherlands. She also serves as a warden for the American Consulate in Amsterdam and is a member of APICS.

He started his second career as a technical consultant implementing EDI solutions, and has been able to get the most out of technology ever since.

Melanie has over 14 years’ experience in the logistics market, with 8 years at DHL. Prior to joining DHL, Melanie worked within the NHS for six years managing significant transformational change programmes. Before that, Melanie has ten years’ experience working for multinational private sector manufacturing companies in a variety of roles such as strategic planning, sales and marketing, customer service, and product/service development. He was awarded a CBE in the 2004 New Year’s Honours List for his services to Economic Development. Anthony founded IHP in 2004 a charitable public-private–partnership to coordinate the donations of medicines.
